The Springfield Project

We are honoured and thrilled that The Springfield Project https://www.springfieldproject.org.uk/ emerged from St Christopher’s Church.  The story of the Project begins more than thirty years ago when a small group of women at St Christopher’s met to pray together and had a vision of a tiny mustard seed which would grow and flourish into a large, beautiful and welcoming tree.  That seed was planted first in the church’s stay and play group, ‘Seedlings’ which despite some ups and downs, has continued to provide a place of welcome, acceptance and love to local families ever since.  That group itself blessed and gave birth to different aspects of the Springfield Project, such as Family Support, a nursery and ultimately a fully functioning Children’s Centre.

In its first phase of life the Springfield Project ran as a sub-committee of St Christopher’s Parochial Church Council but as it grew it become a separate organisation.  However, a majority of its trustees are still part of St Christopher’s and the umbilical cord between the two remains.  Despite all these changes the vision of the Project, developed under the prayerful vision of St Christopher’s, remains to show ‘God’s love in our community’ and the heart of its activities and services is to see all people step into the fullness of life which God longs for them to enjoy.
